Never heard of $jammie the Money or his band Nobody Beats The Drum before , but after a listen to his « Get Paid » EP he's surely a guy to keep an eye on . His sound is like a fusion of jacking beats with electronic and fidget samples , kind of like if you put Siriusmo and Trevor Loveys in a blender .
MC Gringo , a white , german national who fell in love with the music and culture of Rio's favelas... specifically funk music of the 'Baile' parties . Here's a bit of his story , and the brazilian reality .
a bit crazy , a bit psychadelic ...... but at the same time groovy & smooth ! This is how I'd shortly describe Pfunkt's « Champagne Boom » . It's trippy and the vocal loops are great , they fit just perfectly along the bassline . Confused with the crazy-psycho-smooth shit talk? Check it for yourself !...
Gant has the experience to move crowds all over the world with his House , Ghetto Juke , Old school & Hip-Hop based sound ! He will do so if he's given the chance to .
For the last 15 years , TJR has been weaving his way in and out of the electronic music world as a DJ and producer . His djing roots began in North Carolina where he discovered mixing and scratching . After graduating in 1998 , he went full throttle with djing by making a name for himself . He managed to win a few DJ battles along the way . A few years back he used his DJing background for producing and has so far released tracks on some of the most cutting edge labels around like ; Potty Mouth Music , Wearhouse , Jack Union , InStereo , Tonewrecker , Promo Records , etc. He continues to craft his skills in the studio as well as on the decks and it doesn't look like he's stopping any time soon .
TJR has gained popularity in Dance Music circles for his Fidget House releases , including « Atomic » and « Good Evening Chicago » , on Wearhouse Music and Potty Mouth Music respectively .
« Eat , Breathe , Sleep» is his latest release . I will leave you with a remix from the aussie Dj and Producer Klaus Hill on the track « Good Evening Chicago » which I strongly reccomend .
This pop/electronica/rock side project consists in a duo formed by guitarist Russell Lissack ( from Bloc Party ) and guitarist/singer Milena Mepris , formerly of the electro-punk band Black Moustache .
"Given Lissack's global success and Mepris's own solo work , we find surprising that it has taken so long for Pin Me Down to release anything , but the wait has been worth it.... the track « Cryptic » throbs with an infectious 80's dance-pop finesse (...)" ( quote from Dazed and Confused Magazine about the original version of « Cryptic » )
Their first single "Cryptic" appears on the « Kitsuné Maison 5 GOLD compilation » . Kitsuné also released a remix single of « Cryptic » in June 2008 , which features a remix by PHONES ( producer and remixer Paul Epworth ) .
The Crookers have been working on their debut album for a while and now it’s official...the release date is set to January 2010 ! « Tons of Friends » will be the name of the album . After remixing huge names in pop and rock , they have gone to some of their favourite artists to work alongside them , some of the artists featured are Soulwax , RadioClit , Major Lazer , Spank Rock , Kelis , Roisin Murphy , Pitbull , Kardinal Offishall and Tim Burgess . All these names plus The Crookers together in one album will surely turn into an interesting affair . The first single is a hip-house influenced thing called « Put Your Hands On Me » featuring Kardinal Offishall & Carla-Marie , and the official release is the 5th of October .
'Musik is Us' first month has been just great ! Though my fellow collabs haven't been on it as much as I'd like , I think we've all been enjoying to see the blog grow...and being part of it has been fun too . The baby is only crawling by now ....so be sure to stay tuned and see the first baby-steps in this growing proccess . The best way you all can help is by coming back , and being a regular (as many are by now ) ........ this blog wouldn't be up if it weren't for all you visitors !!!! I'll keep doing my part as long as you keep doing yours ! Thanks for the 700 hundred visits we've had ( average 41 / day ) and the 1500 ( actually already a bit more than that) page views ( average 75 / day ) this month !
Acid Girls from LA are living the (american) bloggers dream ; they went straight from hosting one of the most influential music blogs to dj'ing parties all over the world and are recently receiving more and more praise for their own productions and remixes. Similar to Duke Dumont or JOTS [Jokers of The Scene] , their productions have a very wide range of influences...but always build on the roots of classic techno.
Their new single is about to drop on IHEARTCOMIX on September 1st . It Features two dancefloor destroyers along with remixes by JOTS and Dave P & Adam Sparkles .
To finish off summer he's come out with « BURNS 3 » , his new release . It's got three tracks , including " Teknique " , plus two remixes ; one from Fred Falke , and the other from the talented italian His Majesty Andre .
Thomas Bachellier did a clip for the track ( heavily cinema inspired ) , see it below..
At the Main stage, Junior Boys released a good but slow album, and without any presence on stage, the gig just felt like a slow death. On the other hand, despite the lack of crowd, Underworld was magic! Long hard old-style techno tracks that get you into that kind of trance.. I loved it!
On the Turbo stage, Zombie Nation in my opinion was too hard for the time of the night. He provided a pretty big phat sound, but still, it felt like the end of the night. Tiga himself was also a bit of a let down, although I think overall the sound at the Turbo stage was always a good representative of what the label stands for.
My biggest critic goes to the volume of the Turbo stage, which was way too loud considering the rest of the festival not only for the people attending this stage, but also the way it was still heard at the Main stage.
These are obviously just my thoughts and opinions, and DJ Z-KAT might have some different ones since I also saw him there eheh ;)
Giorgio Moroder (born 1940) , is an Italian record producer , songwriter and performer . His work with synthesizers during the 1970s and 1980s had a significant influence on new wave , house , techno and electronic music in general .
Moroder released singles simply as "Giorgio" as early as 1966, singing in English, German, and Italian. He had a number of hits in his own name including "Son of My Father" in 1972 and "From Here to Eternity" in 1977 . The following year (1978) he released "Chase" , the theme from the film «Midnight Express» . All were hits in the UK . In 1979 Moroder released his album "E=MC²" . On the album's cover it was stated that it was the "first electronic live-to-digital album" . He also released three albums between 1977-1979 under the name "Munich Machine" . He scored many popular films in the 70's and 80's including «Midnight Express» , «American Gigolo» , «Flashdance» , «The Never Ending Story» , «Thief of Hearts» , «Electric Dreams» , «Over the Top» and «Scarface» .
In 1984 , Moroder worked with Philip Oakey of The Human League to make the album "Philip Oakey & Giorgio Moroder" ; with "Together in Electric Dreams" being a solid hit ! It was the title track to the movie of the same name as well . In 1986, Moroder collaborated with other names in music to create the score for the film «Top Gun» (1986) , with the most noteworthy hit being Berlin's "Take My Breath Away" .
Giorgio Moroder also wrote the official theme songs , "Reach Out" for the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics , and "Hand in Hand" for the 1988 Seoul Olympics . "Un'estate italiana" was the theme for the 1990 Football World Cup.
On September 20 , 2004 Moroder was honored at the ' Dance Music Hall of Fame ' ceremony , held in New York , he was inducted for his many outstanding achievements and contributions as producer .
Portuguese DJ & Producer , Ricardo Manaia has just finished touring outside europe , more precisely Mexico and Texas (USA) . His last show was on the 22nd of August at Ciudad de Mexico .
Here's a minimix he put out to let all the 'gringos' and 'southern' americans know what he's all about ! Crazy kuduro rhythms , always droppin' some heavy beats with that fidgetty flavour many of you (and me) like ! That's what goes on when Dj Manaia is around .
First we had Mixhell remixed by Brodinski , now we have Mixhell as the remixers ! Boris' track « Buzz In » hardly & industrially remixed by the brazilian duo . Just the way I like it !
Mixhell ! Fuck ! .... What can I say ? It's Igor Cavalera's electronic music project ! For the ones who may not know , Cavalera was a former member of the brazilian metal band Sepultura , and it is fastly becoming a very successful project . It's pure underground electronic music with hardbeat as the mainline ( as well has everything musically connected to Igor Cavalera's life ) . Mixhell is a duo consisting of Igor and his wife and producer Laima Leyton .
shit like this makes me wanna hunt for food with a sharp wooden stick and afterwards do some serious tribal dancing/voodoo/witchery !
Scott Cooper's new EP is out and has two great tracks in it !
« Crank It » ( collab with Edu K & Lella ) It's got the original version in it and also a remix from Trevor Loveys . « If I Don't » is the other track I also recommend !
The well-established german producer Sharam Jey must be happy with himself . His latest single « In My Blood » , has got a video released too . Nice vocals blend with some pretty good guitar & fancy stuff ( sometimes gory but still nice )on the effects department.. Indie/Pop/Dance all in one . Out on KingKong Records . Video directed by Thomas François .
Watch out...he's aiming straight to the top ! After last year's monster hit « Day n' Nite » along with The Crookers , rapper Kid Cudi is now bringing out new stuff !
Kid Cudi plus two of the best rappers nowadays , Kanye West and Common team up to work on a sample of....errr.. Lady Gaga's 2009 theme « Poker Face » ( Poke Her Face ! ) , and here's the result... an awesome track !! Here remixed by the nonetheless great DJ ...AFROJACK !!
Designer Drugs is going on a full force Euro tour (Starting in LISBON) ! It's happening in advance of their October release via IHEARTCOMIX Records ! October 27th you'll be able to digitally get the new singles « RIOT » and « DROP DOWN » .
If you are anywhere near to where they'll be.... GET READY TO PARTY !!!!!!
What a nostalgic feel this gives me.. So many memories surfacing.... listening to this song makes me happy , brings to me that inner smile typical of the moments when we feel good about ourselves and the memories we have great memories ! =)
Even though it sounds a bit 'trancey' , which usually I dislike...I can't deny , ' Greece 2000 - 3 Drives On A Vynil ' is one of my all-time favorites .
He has already received a fair amount of love with his previous single « Learn To Recycle » and his new track « Set Me Free » has been on heavy rotation for a while for those who know their game . But the real buzz is only getting started now....
« Set Me Free » is a brilliant fusion of both french house and the more melodic variations of current big room sound , with the edgey disco roots of Daft Punk and the soulful warmth of a Fred Falke production . In short ; Phonat delivers this season's perfect peaktime anthem .
Get the extended mix and a remix from the swedish house mafia guy Avicii right here.

Headlining the ' Cream stage ' will be the legendary Underworld , and Junior Boys . Acts performing on the ' Turbo stage ' include: Tiga , Proxy , Riton , Zombie Nation , Jori Hulkkonen , Jesper Dahlback , Seth Troxler , Thomas Von Party and Mike Mind. CREAMFIELDS PORTUGAL '09 PROUDLY PRESENTS ;
Yes Yes Yes .... A very big event , known all around the world ..... this makes me proud , though I think events like this could ( and should ) happen more often in Portugal .
They are australian ( sydney ) and they've been described as « A skittering shitstorm of punk fury , disco beats and psychedelic excursions »
The first single , « 17 Deaths » from Lost Valentinos' debut album was released in June 2007 following work with producer Ewan Pearson ( The Rapture , The Chemical Brothers ) . « Miles From Nowhere » was released in August 2007 . The second single , « The Bismarck » from their new album , was released on the 12th of November 2008, on Bang Gang . This second new single marks a slight change in musical direction for the band , with « The Bismarck » sounding a bit more like a Dance band with guitars than an Indie Punk-Rock band that you can dance to ( like their previous releases ) .
I'll leave you two remixes , both very good ... « The Bismarck » , and « CCTV »
It's out !!! The man who re-created disco not too long ago just came out with this video for a track from his album , released TODAY , « Ready for the Weekend » . Housey flavoured with some nice synths added to it , nice vocals too .
Nu Ravers On The Block aka NROTB ! These boys are from Montreal ( CAN ) and have been seen playing with the likes of Felix Cartal , Don Rimini , Les Petits Pilous and more . NROTB just sent in this amazing grower called "Droplet" ( built on wooden xylophone hits, funked basslines and charging effects) . The drop-out and rebuild progression that happens around the 2:45 mark is to die for and should make it's way into many sets from here on .
Marina Vello (ex-Bonde do Role singer) teams up with French chanteusse SoKo on a single that was produced by the Swedish/French duo Radioclit .
This is the first release in a new series of 7"s ( Vynil ) that is a joint venture between IHEARTCOMIX and Pure Groove ! Each single will be limited to 300 copies, will feature new and unreleased material from the coolest of cool artists around the globe... and it is available exclusively through Pure Groove . To make this 1st release even more special, it features full original art by comic book sensation Robert Goodin .
Italian DJ & Producer , Riva Starr is releasing an album after this summer , the 'EP' « If Life Gives You Lemons , Make Lemonade » will be out on Made To Play this September .
We have the video just for you .
Riva Starr - I Was Drunk ( feat. NOZE ) & BlackCat WhiteCat
[ Video images taken from Emir Kusturica's « Black Cat, White Cat » Movie ]
Sinden did well ( as usual ) on this one , if you know his style , you'll be able to feel/listen to his personal ' touch ' . Tommie Sunshine's edit only made it easier to mix .
Jamie Smithson aka Rektchordz has been mastering the art of music since 2001 . Hearing the fresh sound of the early tech-funk movement was enough to begin creating & shaping a new sound . 2009 sees even bigger & brighter things for this producer / dj .
Major Lazer's « Hold The Line » video has been nominated for MTV Video Music Awards [ VMA ] . Fighting vampires and other monsters on his rocket powered skateboard here he is .... Major............ Lazer !
If you want to VOTE for this video , do it HEEEEEEERE !!
Rusko is remixing quite a lot lately. He will be dropping official remixes of Prodigy , Pesante , Little Boots and Basement Jaxx this August & September ! Check out his myspace player for some previews. He even got a tight remix of Skunk Anansie .
In addition to his BIG remix game , he's also releasing his album this fall ( Autumn ) . It's got a lot of vocal artists featuring in it . Names like Flo Rida , Santogold , Estelle and Kid Sister . I can easily see this album bringing dubstep to the next commercial level with collabs like that .
Here's a little preview of the Attacca Pesante remix ! Good summer vibes ....
Debut track from Santogold's DJ ! Martelo - Wasted ( feat. Hervé ) Coming out on Cheaper Thrills , beatport exclusive ( August 10th ) ! General release date , 7th September 2009 .
Who ? Norman Cook . Where ? Portimão's racetrack @ Algarve , Portugal . When ? Today , starting at 18h pm . Why ?... Cuz it's summertime , the right time for the right guy to be at the right place . Brought to us by ;
Wish I could be there , but unfortunately I'll be missing this one ..
This track is huge ! it's like dropping a bomb on the dancefloor ! Nothing else to say on this one , great job done on the production . Big up for Harvard Bass ! The 'EP' is out and available on beatport .
Here's how good it gets when you play «Caked» loudly enough .
Santiago & Bushido have been pushing the electro/house scene forward in the last few years , many hits , some original and some reworks have been coming out constantly . Chris Santiago and Tim Bush are a regular presence in the big parties all over the world . Released in January (2009) by Potty Mouth Music , «Bounce» is probably one of the most , if not , the most underrated work from this Chicago based duo .
Fukkk Offf aka Bastian Heerhorst has been renowned for some time in his hometown for storming live sets in the clubs around Hamburg's red light district . "Die sündige Meile" or "the sinful mile" as it is known has seen its walls shaked by the throbbing depths of Bastian's big room Fukkk Offf Sound ( these same streets are where the Beatles made their way in the early 60's , John Lennon was once quoted as saying "I might have been born in Liverpool, but I grew up in Hamburg." ) When you have a sound as un-containable as this ,the word travels all over the world . Bastian was contacted immediately by the heads at Coco Machete Records in New York City. After hits like « I'm a Freak » , « Bloodfuck » and « Love Me Hate Me Kiss Me Kill Me » , or his remix of « Tight Jeans » for D'Secret Svc , he now brings us « I Give You Bass » a strong bassline sound with an electro feel to it and some sick twisted vocals .
Nice one... and very dancefloor playable ! Got it from Soundcloud.com , it was uploaded by Tommie Sunshine just a few hours ago . Hope you enjoy as much as I do , big fan of Chromeo here .
Electro , punk , hardcore , hip-hop , acid house , classical music.... you name it ! All these music styles can be found on the productions and mixes/remixes of this italian duo .
It's sick,it's insane...it's GREAT !
Out there , they definetly are changing the concept of what a club is .
The Bloody Beetroots bursted out in 2007 and within a year Bob Rifo ( the main man behind their creations ) cranked out 28 Bloody Beetroots remixes !
The adventures continue throughout '08 and '09 , already the «WARP EP» is blowing up on dancefloors worldwide . Most importantly, there is the Bloody Beetroots’ hotly anticipated debut album, featuring contributions by The Cool Kids and Ed Banger fave Vicarious Bliss. "It incorporates all my musical components: Pop, Punk, Electro, Acid, Classical, Rave, Techno… I need that." says Rifo .
''Romborama'' will be out soon .
These guys simply want to have fun with all the people of the world !!!!!!
