Never heard of $jammie the Money or his band Nobody Beats The Drum before , but after a listen to his « Get Paid » EP he's surely a guy to keep an eye on . His sound is like a fusion of jacking beats with electronic and fidget samples , kind of like if you put Siriusmo and Trevor Loveys in a blender .
MC Gringo , a white , german national who fell in love with the music and culture of Rio's favelas... specifically funk music of the 'Baile' parties . Here's a bit of his story , and the brazilian reality .
a bit crazy , a bit psychadelic ...... but at the same time groovy & smooth ! This is how I'd shortly describe Pfunkt's « Champagne Boom » . It's trippy and the vocal loops are great , they fit just perfectly along the bassline . Confused with the crazy-psycho-smooth shit talk? Check it for yourself !...
Gant has the experience to move crowds all over the world with his House , Ghetto Juke , Old school & Hip-Hop based sound ! He will do so if he's given the chance to .
For the last 15 years , TJR has been weaving his way in and out of the electronic music world as a DJ and producer . His djing roots began in North Carolina where he discovered mixing and scratching . After graduating in 1998 , he went full throttle with djing by making a name for himself . He managed to win a few DJ battles along the way . A few years back he used his DJing background for producing and has so far released tracks on some of the most cutting edge labels around like ; Potty Mouth Music , Wearhouse , Jack Union , InStereo , Tonewrecker , Promo Records , etc. He continues to craft his skills in the studio as well as on the decks and it doesn't look like he's stopping any time soon .
TJR has gained popularity in Dance Music circles for his Fidget House releases , including « Atomic » and « Good Evening Chicago » , on Wearhouse Music and Potty Mouth Music respectively .
« Eat , Breathe , Sleep» is his latest release . I will leave you with a remix from the aussie Dj and Producer Klaus Hill on the track « Good Evening Chicago » which I strongly reccomend .
This pop/electronica/rock side project consists in a duo formed by guitarist Russell Lissack ( from Bloc Party ) and guitarist/singer Milena Mepris , formerly of the electro-punk band Black Moustache .
"Given Lissack's global success and Mepris's own solo work , we find surprising that it has taken so long for Pin Me Down to release anything , but the wait has been worth it.... the track « Cryptic » throbs with an infectious 80's dance-pop finesse (...)" ( quote from Dazed and Confused Magazine about the original version of « Cryptic » )
Their first single "Cryptic" appears on the « Kitsuné Maison 5 GOLD compilation » . Kitsuné also released a remix single of « Cryptic » in June 2008 , which features a remix by PHONES ( producer and remixer Paul Epworth ) .
The Crookers have been working on their debut album for a while and now it’s official...the release date is set to January 2010 ! « Tons of Friends » will be the name of the album . After remixing huge names in pop and rock , they have gone to some of their favourite artists to work alongside them , some of the artists featured are Soulwax , RadioClit , Major Lazer , Spank Rock , Kelis , Roisin Murphy , Pitbull , Kardinal Offishall and Tim Burgess . All these names plus The Crookers together in one album will surely turn into an interesting affair . The first single is a hip-house influenced thing called « Put Your Hands On Me » featuring Kardinal Offishall & Carla-Marie , and the official release is the 5th of October .
'Musik is Us' first month has been just great ! Though my fellow collabs haven't been on it as much as I'd like , I think we've all been enjoying to see the blog grow...and being part of it has been fun too . The baby is only crawling by now ....so be sure to stay tuned and see the first baby-steps in this growing proccess . The best way you all can help is by coming back , and being a regular (as many are by now ) ........ this blog wouldn't be up if it weren't for all you visitors !!!! I'll keep doing my part as long as you keep doing yours ! Thanks for the 700 hundred visits we've had ( average 41 / day ) and the 1500 ( actually already a bit more than that) page views ( average 75 / day ) this month !
Acid Girls from LA are living the (american) bloggers dream ; they went straight from hosting one of the most influential music blogs to dj'ing parties all over the world and are recently receiving more and more praise for their own productions and remixes. Similar to Duke Dumont or JOTS [Jokers of The Scene] , their productions have a very wide range of influences...but always build on the roots of classic techno.
Their new single is about to drop on IHEARTCOMIX on September 1st . It Features two dancefloor destroyers along with remixes by JOTS and Dave P & Adam Sparkles .
To finish off summer he's come out with « BURNS 3 » , his new release . It's got three tracks , including " Teknique " , plus two remixes ; one from Fred Falke , and the other from the talented italian His Majesty Andre .
Thomas Bachellier did a clip for the track ( heavily cinema inspired ) , see it below..
At the Main stage, Junior Boys released a good but slow album, and without any presence on stage, the gig just felt like a slow death. On the other hand, despite the lack of crowd, Underworld was magic! Long hard old-style techno tracks that get you into that kind of trance.. I loved it!
On the Turbo stage, Zombie Nation in my opinion was too hard for the time of the night. He provided a pretty big phat sound, but still, it felt like the end of the night. Tiga himself was also a bit of a let down, although I think overall the sound at the Turbo stage was always a good representative of what the label stands for.
My biggest critic goes to the volume of the Turbo stage, which was way too loud considering the rest of the festival not only for the people attending this stage, but also the way it was still heard at the Main stage.
These are obviously just my thoughts and opinions, and DJ Z-KAT might have some different ones since I also saw him there eheh ;)
Giorgio Moroder (born 1940) , is an Italian record producer , songwriter and performer . His work with synthesizers during the 1970s and 1980s had a significant influence on new wave , house , techno and electronic music in general .
Moroder released singles simply as "Giorgio" as early as 1966, singing in English, German, and Italian. He had a number of hits in his own name including "Son of My Father" in 1972 and "From Here to Eternity" in 1977 . Portuguese DJ & Producer , Ricardo Manaia has just finished touring outside europe , more precisely Mexico and Texas (USA) . His last show was on the 22nd of August at Ciudad de Mexico .
Here's a minimix he put out to let all the 'gringos' and 'southern' americans know what he's all about ! Crazy kuduro rhythms , always droppin' some heavy beats with that fidgetty flavour many of you (and me) like ! That's what goes on when Dj Manaia is around .
First we had Mixhell remixed by Brodinski , now we have Mixhell as the remixers ! Boris' track « Buzz In » hardly & industrially remixed by the brazilian duo . Just the way I like it !
Mixhell ! Fuck ! .... What can I say ? It's Igor Cavalera's electronic music project ! For the ones who may not know , Cavalera was a former member of the brazilian metal band Sepultura , and it is fastly becoming a very successful project . It's pure underground electronic music with hardbeat as the mainline ( as well has everything musically connected to Igor Cavalera's life ) . Mixhell is a duo consisting of Igor and his wife and producer Laima Leyton .
shit like this makes me wanna hunt for food with a sharp wooden stick and afterwards do some serious tribal dancing/voodoo/witchery !
Scott Cooper's new EP is out and has two great tracks in it !
« Crank It » ( collab with Edu K & Lella ) It's got the original version in it and also a remix from Trevor Loveys . « If I Don't » is the other track I also recommend !
