October Mix

It's been a while since I didn't spin anything at my wheels of steel so I decided to put together a small mix with some of the tracks I like the most that have been around our sweet blog :)

The mix isn't perfect (it's been a while), and near the end the mix goes mono due to cable problems, but it's audible and I hope you enjoy it as much as I did mixing it!

Get it here.

Tracklist:
Discodeine - Invert (Parce que Edit)
Bag Raiders - Turbo Love (Spruce Lee Remix)
MTO - Bring It On Now (Hatchmatik Remix)
Sjammie the money - Get Paid
Jokers of the Scene - Baggy Bottom Boys
Tim Deluxe - When We Come To It
Alex Gopher - Belmondo (Sharam Jey Remix)
Stupid Bastard - Hype Up
Lionel Richie - All Night Long (Rico Tubbs Remix)

(if you like it, this could start to be a small montly tradition highlighting the best tunes presented since there are so many dj's here with us ;)

Silver Columns

The only thing I know for sure is that we are talking about a band named Silver Columns and Joe Goddard from Hot Chip is on the controls for this remix .

Silver Columns - Brow Beaten (Joe Goddard Remix )

Miami Horror

Irresistible electro-fueled indie-pop !

As if a track wasn't enough , offered with the mp3 is a day-dreamy music video sure to enrich the listening experience .

New single from Miami Horror's upcoming debut album .

Guess who's back

It's been a while since I last posted here , but I had a bizzy month , got my old life back and days are running by without me even knowing it .
But let's go on to better things , MUSIC !
To start off in some great style here's a Mix by the italian monster Riva Starr !

He seems to have burst onto the scene fully formed , and injected a shot of adrenalin directly into our ear canals .

Luring us toward the goods like a veteran gypsy stealing your wallet , this spicy concoction of Balkan beats rubbing elbows with the best elements of tech house weaves an intoxicating spell to say the least .
This is booty shaking dance floor crack that you’ll find yourself begging , stealing and borrowing to get your next fix of .

2x2x2

2 Great Bands x 2 Great Songs x 2 Great Remixes

A-Side: Gossip - you´ve surely heard "Standing in the way of control" or at least Soulwax´s remix if you´ve been too any Soulwax or 2manydjs concert in the last 2 or 3 years. That´s already old news, and the new single "Heavy Cross" isn´t that new anymore but in my humble opinion its supa-dupa fantastic! just simply executed to perfection, and I will go on further to say that just about any remix you may heart of it (there are quite a few already!!) is good too just because the original is flawless.
"..And the remixes go to..."

Fred Falke - possibly one of the best remixers walking the earth!

BURNS - been making quite some waves lately, and very good ones might I add. this remix is very original and i think displays all the talent this dudes got!

B-Side: Miike Snow - the relatively new and upcoming swedes having made a BIG impact with their debut album that goes by the same name. The first 2 singles "Animal" and "Burial" have launched them onto the mainstage and rightly so with "Animal" getting remixes from the likes of Fake Blood and Crookers, and Dj Mehdi putting his signature on Burial! If you haven´t yet heard them, which hole have been hiding in? Well the 3rd single "Black & Blue" is equally great. Once again, you can´t go wrong remixing five star originals.

"..And the remixes go to..."

Savage Skulls - these fellow swedes made a cool thumping dancefloor version. works for me =)

Tiga - No need for introduction for this man and his unique Turboesque touch on this one can be told from a mile! Those cuts and beeps and squeaks are quite trademark

PS: And now you know why some DJs play back-to-back same songs with different remixes. its pretty neat!

Planisphere

Needing no introduction whatsoever, here's a track from one of my all time favourite bands I didn't know about until just now. A 17 minutes and 30 seconds long Justice rock style track!

PNAU & Ladyhawke

Hey! After JPs' suggestion (more like begging), I finally decided to give my contribute to this amazing blog! I didn't see these names in the list you have here so here it goes...

Here are two names that need no introduction and who represent the much appreciated new wave of nu disco/indie rock from Down Under... Ladyhawke has recently been in Portugal at Sudoeste, and she really is outstanding on stage! I was surprised by the amount of energy that she put into her act because her latest cd is rather calm (but brilliant nonetheless). As for Pnau, well... judge for yourselves while you watch this video of their best song, in my opinion...

For more, check www.myspace.com/ladyhawkerock and http://www.myspace.com/pnau !!

Also, if you have nothing better to do, check this out: http://www.pnaupnau.com/ !!

Cheers!

Tonight!

Another power of the French music scene, Alex Gopher, along with known stars Etienne de Crécy and both members of the band Air, started off with a pop band named "Orange". Today he holds great tracks combining elements of funk, house, and electronica, as well as his own label Solid.

As a sample here is the work of Sharam Jey over his Belmondo:
Alex Gopher - Belmondo (Sharam Jey Remix)

And as a bonus, Gopher will be playing tonight at the local club Lux, joining the local portuguese guys from D.I.S.C.O TEXAS and their already famous Titan Thursdays. So maybe tomorrow I can tell you about Mr. Gopher's performance as a Dj :)
